Earthpill - Calculating the true cost of your electrical appliances
Total entries in the Earthpill database 1,523 items and 1,557 measurements
So you want to know how much your electrical appliance is costing you in terms of cash, power and environmental impact?
1000s of people are saving by using power meters to see how much electricity an appliance in their home is using when it's turned on and when it's on standby.
Earthpill provides the world with a place to store and hold this information for everyone to benefit from.
Add measurements that you have made so that others can save without having to measure themselves.
Search the measurements that others have already made to find how much you are really using.

Who are we?
We’re two people who stumbled into a problem that we just had to sort out.
We wanted to know the cost and carbon footprint of our electrical appliances both at home and at work. We searched around and just couldn’t find one place where you could check the environmental or cash cost of the power an electrical appliance uses.
Sure there are sites with some readings but they are all over the place. It is all very generic and when we actually measured some items with a meter at home we found some huge variations in consumption from the official figures or measurements quoted. For instance some manufacturers may take power consumption readings in circumstances or configurations that just do not reflect real life usage.
So we thought we’d make an online database that is a real world view, from a consumer’s perspective, of the power an item uses.
We simply want to provide a place where you can add a power meter reading so other can benefit from it without having to actually measure themselves. Some people just cannot afford to buy a meter or just find the measurement process too difficult!
Thanks to members of the Earthpill Community there are now 1,523 items and 1,557 measurements in the Earthpill database
The more people who add a measurement for an item, the more the measurement is reflective of the real world consumption.
We’ve set this up from our own pockets. We just want to make a difference and hope that the community builds in strength and power for the benefit of generations to come.
